**Edit: that verse should say "repentance" rather than "reception" at the end. I have no idea how that happened.**
Last night at college group, we started reading a new book of the Bible - Colossians.
For whatever reason, we were having a really hard time focusing, so it took us forever to finally get going. And even then, it was a bit bumpy. But anyway, I digress.
We got all the way through to the end of the section for the night. We had a lot of great discussion & talks come up throughout the whole reading, but the final sentence really struck me.
As a whole, the sentence is beautiful & heartwarming, comforting. But what really stood out to me was the word 'delivered' - it practically jumped off the page when I read over those last two verses.
Delivered.
Wanna know the very first thing that I thought of when I read that? God put this image in my mind of Him coming in & literally lifting us out of the flames, out of the depths of the dark ocean. I close my eyes & that's what I see when I think of this verse.
Delivered. Maybe it's because it is so overused nowadays in regards to faith, but it just sounds so much stronger than just saying 'saved', or even 'rescued'.
It makes me think of the fact that His arms - His strong, all powerful, all loving arms - are the only thing in this world capable of delivering us from the darkness that is trying so desperately to overthrow us.
So this is what I would like to say to you - LET HIM.
Let Him deliver you.
Let Him pick you up & carry you out of the depths.
Let Him love you.
He longs for you.
