Honoring Our Creator

Greetings from Australia! I am having the time of my life & cannot believe how incredibly faithful God has been to bring me here. Anyway, all my pictures from my time down here will have to wait until either my semester break or when I get back at the end of the year, but I wanted to stop by & share with you all something from our devos yesterday morning.

Think of a time when you created something that you were extremely proud of. Maybe it was a meal, a painting, a poem, a song; whatever your creative medium may be. Mine would be a dinner for all my friends & family. Now imagine that you brought that particular piece of artwork to someone who you love & respect very much – your mom, dad, sibling, spouse, friend, etc. Now picture them looking at you square in the eyes & saying, “You didn’t make that. No way.” What would you do? What would you feel?

Hurt? Insulted? Ashamed? I know for me, I would be infuriated. How dare they say that I didn’t make that plate of chicken parmesan or stir-fry! How would they know something like that? Especially if they hadn’t even been in the room or house while I had been preparing it! How dare they!

Okay, let’s change the characters a little bit. Put God in your position, & in place of your piece of artwork put the earth, animals, plants, & humans in its place. Think about how God feels when one of us, one of His children, says that He did not create this place, our world. I think it causes Him to feel a mixture of something between rage, hurt, & insult. How dare we say that He didn’t create this world & everything in it! Were we around when He was creating the plants or the animals? Were we there when He put Adam in a deep sleep in order to create women? No, we weren’t.

Just because we don’t see something happen with our eyes don’t mean it didn’t happen. I didn’t see my car get built, but I drive it. I didn’t see my house get built, but I live in it. I didn’t see my dog being born, but I pet & snuggle with him.

We walk by faith, not by sight. - 2 Corinthians 5:7

I’m not trying to bash science & evolution; I believe that those are real things & that they are gifts given to us by Christ. God created us to be naturally curious & to wonder how the things of this earth work. It’s one thing to revel in the beauty of a tree, but when you understand how that tree works & how God designed it to grow & thrive, it brings a whole new level to your understanding & reverence for God & what He has created for us.

See this picture here ^ I literally cried standing there looking at this view. The picture does absolutely no justice to how awesome, stunning, & breathtaking this view is. It is by far the most incredible thing I have ever seen in my life - & HE MADE THAT. Doesn't that just blow your mind? So next time you see a beautiful flower, or go to the zoo & see a new animal, I challenge you to take a minute & praise God for His works. Thank Him for all these things that He has created for you, personally.
