A love poem from God, to you;
I am currently reading the book Captivating by Stasi & John Eldridge. This is my second time reading it & I am still getting so much out of it. This poem is from the chapter Romance. In this chapter, the authors talk about how desperately Christ wishes to romance you.
Our relationships with Him go so much deeper than simply "obeying Him", "fearing Him", & "worshipping Him". We should look at Him in the same way that we look at our lovers. My favorite comparison that they give in the book is to when Aragorn declares his love to Arwen in the moonlight in Lord of the Rings. THAT is the kind of love that the God of the universe longs to have with each & every one of us.
"I have loved you with an everlasting love." -Jeremiah 31:3
Twinkling stars on a dark clear night, gentle breezes on top of mountain peaks, blooming flowers in spring, moonlit midnight strolls - those are all God's version of flowers, chocolates, & romantic candlelit dinners. He scripts those things specifically for you & me each & every day.
"He knows what takes your breath away, knows what makes your heart beat faster."
WOW. How amazing is that?! But this line really hit me, like a semi truck kind of hit. You've probably heard the old saying that there is a place in your heart that only God can fill, but did you know...
"...there is also in God's heart a place that you alone can fill."
Just let that sink for a second. Reread it if you have to.
I honestly can't even fathom that, & have been thinking & praying over that one line all day now. I hope you will do the same, because He loves you in a way that no father, mother, sister, brother, grandma, grandpa, best friend, boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife ever could.
Thank you, Lord, for romancing me, pursuing me, & loving me without boarders.
